You must read and understand the safety instructions supplied with the product before proceeding with installation. Improper installation of components is extremely dangerous and may lead to serious or fatal injury. If you have any questions regarding component installation, please consult a professional bicycle mechanic.

Note

This manual is a complete system installation guide, covering the entire process from unboxing each component to starting your ride. Follow the described sequence to complete the corresponding installation and settings. Do not proceed to the next step until you have completed the previous one. Please refer to the official website for the sales region of this product. Selling in unauthorized regions is at your own risk.

FCC operation requirements and compliance statement

Operation is subject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may not cause harmful interference. Safety & Before You Start

Confirm compliance with the requirements below before installation and commissioning. Status B is the best status.

  • Status A — slightly offset inward: |LA−LB| and |LC−LD| ≤ 10mm. Can continue to be used.
  • Status B — no offset (best condition): |LA−LB| and |LC−LD| = 0mm.
  • Status C — shifted outward: unusable.

Tools Needed

Required tools: goggles, gloves, hex wrench set 1.5-5mm

Installing components requires very professional tools and supplies. If you encounter problems during installation, we recommend having a professional bicycle mechanic install them.

The shift lever ships as a left/right pair — both hoods pair to the same rear derailleur, so shifting works from either hand.

Charging

Rear Derailleur Charging

Rear derailleur charging steps: open dust cover, connect magnetic cable, red charging light, off when complete
  1. Open the dust cover.
  2. Connect the magnetic charging cable. The charging indicator lights up red — charging begins.
  3. The charging indicator turns off — charging is complete. Disconnect the magnetic charging cable.

Charging Precautions

Charging precautions list
  1. Ensure the DC connector voltage from the USB port is 5.0Vdc, current less than 2Adc.
  2. If the battery is not fully charged after 6 hours, stop charging.
  3. Ensure hands or gloves are dry when operating charging.
  4. Do not use the product while charging. If the battery temperature exceeds 50°C, stop charging immediately and contact after-sales service.
  5. When replacing the battery, be careful to use the appropriate tools to remove screws.
  6. Do not use unauthorized third-party batteries (especially for the rear derailleur), as this may cause the derailleur to malfunction.

Shift Lever Battery Installation

  1. Peel back the silicone sleeve.
  2. Unscrew the shift lever battery cover.
  3. Insert the CR2032 coin cell battery.
  4. Press a button. The indicator flashes green; if it doesn't flash, replace the battery.
  5. Replace and tighten the battery cover, then replace the silicone sleeve.

System Pairing

1. Rear Derailleur Enter Pairing Mode

  1. Open the rear derailleur's dust cover. Connect the powered-on magnetic charging cable to the rear derailleur's magnetic interface.
  2. Disconnect the magnetic connector.
  3. The indicator light flashes blue, entering pairing mode.

2. Shift Lever Enter Pairing Mode

Using the right shift lever as an example; the steps for left and right are the same.

  1. Peel back the silicone sleeve.
  2. Unscrew the shift lever battery cover.
  3. Hold down the shift lever's shift button while inserting the battery. Keep holding until the shift lever indicator flashes blue (entering pairing mode), then release the button.

3. Pair Shift Lever with Rear Derailleur

  1. After the rear derailleur and shift lever are in pairing mode, place them within communication range. The shift lever and rear derailleur will pair automatically. When pairing is successful, the rear derailleur and shift lever indicators will light green for 1 second.
  2. The rear derailleur's blue indicator continues flashing.

If the blue light does not flash, repeat the "Shift Lever Enter Pairing Mode" step. If no pairing operation is performed within 30 seconds of entering pairing mode, the device will automatically exit pairing mode.

4. Exit Pairing Mode

After pairing the left and right shift levers with the rear derailleur, the device indicator will flash blue three times, then turn off and automatically exit "Pairing Mode."

The source PDF says "After pairing the front derailleur, left and right shift levers..." here and repeats similar "front derailleur" references in the Shift Lever Button Customization and Maintenance sections below. WHEELTOP EDS GeX is a single rear-derailleur system — see Component Overview above — so those front-derailleur mentions look like leftover text carried over from another WHEELTOP manual template and have been left out here and further below.

After pairing is complete, try operating the buttons on the paired devices to check if the shifting function works normally. If any abnormality occurs, try re-pairing.

Installation

Shift Lever Installation

Shift lever installation: angle 6-7 degrees from ground, 90 degrees to handlebar, tighten to 6 N·m

Target geometry: the shift lever angled 6°–7° from the ground, with its centerline at 90° to the handlebar.

  1. Lift the rubber cover from the top.
  2. Insert a 5mm hex wrench under the rubber cover and loosen the fixing screw.
  3. Pass the clamp band over the handlebar and position the shift lever appropriately.
  4. Tighten the fixing screw (6 N·m).

Rear Derailleur Installation

Rear derailleur installation: align with hanger, tighten mounting bolt to 5 N·m
  1. Align the rear derailleur mounting bracket with the derailleur hanger.
  2. Tighten the mounting bolt using a 5mm hex wrench (5 N·m).

Chain Installation

Chain installation: test chain length, route through guide pulleys and anti-disengagement chain plate, connect with quick link

When installing, keep the rear derailleur in gear 1 (smallest sprocket position).

  1. Test chain length: pass the chain around the largest chainring and the largest cog (without pulling back), pull the chain tight, and add 2–3 links at the connection point (the end should be a quick link).
  2. Pass the chain around the smallest cog from the left side.
  3. After winding the chain around the top side, pull on the guide pulley.
  4. Pass the chain through the middle, between the upper guide pulley and the special anti-disengagement chain plate.
  5. Route the chain around the lower guide pulley from the upper side.
  6. Connect the chain using the quick link.

Note: the quick-link connector is a disposable, one-time-use part.

Derailleur Calibration

Initial calibration standard: align rear derailleur guide pulley with center of smallest sprocket

Initial Calibration. During adjustment, keep the rear derailleur in gear 1 (smallest sprocket position). Do not rotate the chainring continuously during adjustment, and do not adjust while riding, as this may damage the derailleur.

Rear Derailleur Initial Position Adjustment Standard: align the center of the rear derailleur's guide pulley with the center of the smallest sprocket.

There are three ways to adjust the initial position: the Micro-Adjustment Screw Method, the App Method, and the Handlebar Micro-Adjustment Method. The micro-adjustment screw method is recommended.

Method 1 — Micro-Adjustment Screw Method (Rear Derailleur)

  1. Use a 2mm hex wrench to loosen the cover fixing screw.
  2. Push the chain guide cover forward to remove it.

Turn the low limit screw counter-clockwise: the rear derailleur guide pulley moves towards the smallest sprocket. Turn the low limit screw clockwise: the guide pulley moves towards the largest sprocket.

Method 2 — App Method (Rear Derailleur)

Bind Device via App: ensure the phone and device are within communication range. Check the device's MAC code and tap the corresponding device.

Adjust Device via App: pressing the left button moves the rear derailleur away from the smallest sprocket; pressing the right button moves it closer. In both cases, ensure smooth upshifting and downshifting with no abnormal noise from the device. After adjustment, lightly tighten the rear derailleur's low limit screw.

Method 3 — Handlebar Micro-Adjustment Method (Rear Derailleur)

  1. Long-press the right shift lever's small button for 5 seconds. (You can brace against the large button here to avoid accidental pressing.)
  2. The rear derailleur indicator light turns green.
  3. Within 3 seconds of the indicator lighting up, press the small button 5 times.
  4. The rear derailleur indicator light becomes steady blue, entering "Initial Position Calibration" mode.

Press the right shift lever's large and small buttons together: the rear derailleur moves towards the smallest sprocket (0.2mm per press). Press the right shift lever's large button alone: the rear derailleur moves towards the largest sprocket (0.2mm per press). Each button press causes the blue indicator to flash once and then return to steady, confirming one successful micro-adjustment step.

Rear Derailleur Tension Calibration

Perform this only after completing initial calibration. During adjustment, shift the rear derailleur to the largest gear (largest sprocket position). Do not rotate the chainring continuously during adjustment, and do not adjust while riding, as this may damage the derailleur.

  1. Adjust the rear derailleur tension screw.
  2. ...until the distance between the guide pulley and the largest sprocket is approximately 8–10mm.

The optimal distance may vary depending on the rear sprocket size; the value here is for reference only.

Rear Derailleur Limit Screw Calibration

Limit screw calibration: adjust low and high limit screws, back off 1/4 turn, test shifting

Perform this only after completing both initial calibration and tension calibration.

  1. Shift the rear derailleur to the smallest sprocket.
  2. Adjust the low limit screw (smallest sprocket) until it lightly contacts the stop.
  3. Back off the screw by 1/4 turn.
  4. Shift the rear derailleur to the largest sprocket.
  5. Adjust the high limit screw (largest sprocket) until it lightly contacts the stop.
  6. Back off the screw by 1/4 turn.
  7. Test shifting. If it cannot shift down to the smallest sprocket, back off the low limit screw another 1/4 turn. If it cannot shift up to the largest sprocket, back off the high limit screw another 1/4 turn.

Gear Micro-adjustment

Perform gear micro-adjustment only after completing initial calibration. Do not rotate the chainring continuously during adjustment, and do not adjust while riding, as this may damage the derailleur.

Determining if micro-adjustment is needed: try shifting through the gears. If there is any abnormality during upshifting or downshifting, try adjusting the value for the current gear and adjacent gears so that the rear derailleur's guide pulley aligns with the tooth tips of the corresponding sprocket.

App gear value adjustment: increasing moves the derailleur closer to the frame, decreasing moves it away

When the value increases, the rear derailleur moves closer to the frame. When the value decreases, it moves away from the frame. After adjusting a value, shift to another gear and then back to verify the change — ensure smooth upshifting and downshifting with no abnormal noise from the device.

High limit screw adjustment after completing gear micro-adjustment for all gears

After completing micro-adjustment for all gears, shift the rear derailleur to the largest sprocket and lightly tighten the rear derailleur's high limit screw until it contacts the stop surface.

Shifting Operations

Rear Derailleur Shifting

Upshift by pressing the shift lever's large button, downshift by pressing large and small buttons together

Upshift: press the right shift lever's large button. The derailleur upshifts, moving towards the larger sprocket.

Downshift: press the right shift lever's large and small buttons together. The derailleur downshifts, moving towards the smaller sprocket.

The indicator flashes once per button press. Long-press for continuous up/downshifting.

Two corrections from the source PDF: this page appears right after the Component Overview in the printed manual, well ahead of where its own table of contents places it — it's shown here under Shifting Operations to match the manual's intended structure. It also originally described the downshift action as "press the large button — the derailleur upshifts, moving towards the larger sprocket," duplicating the upshift text; the corrected downshift trigger and direction above are cross-checked against the button-mapping default described in Shift Lever Button Customization below.

Shift Lever Button Customization

App button customization: select button, select controlled device, select function, confirm
  1. Select the button to be adjusted.
  2. Select the device controlled by the button.
  3. Select the button's function: "+" for upshift, "−" for downshift.
  4. Click confirm. The button function is set successfully.

If an error occurs or changes cannot be made, try clicking "One-Key Restore." Default settings: right lever large button = rear derailleur upshift; right lever large+small buttons = rear derailleur downshift.

Maintenance

Parts Replacement

If the rear derailleur or a shift lever is individually damaged and needs replacement, refer to "Installation" above. When replacing a shift lever, only the replaced component needs to be re-paired with the rear derailleur. When replacing the rear derailleur, all components need to be re-paired — refer to "System Pairing" for instructions.

Derailleur Usage Precautions

  1. Only CR2032 batteries can be used for the shift levers.
  2. It is recommended to clean the derailleur regularly.
  3. The operating temperature range of the transmission is −10°C to 50°C.
  4. The rear derailleur's battery is an integrated, non-removable design. Non-professionals should not disassemble it. Air transport requiring disassembly should be carried out by professionals.
