How to Calibrate WHEELTOP EDS TX: Complete Electronic Shifting Fine-Tuning Guide

Proper calibration is exactly what makes electronic shifting feel fast, precise, and silent. Today, I'm walking you through the complete fine-tuning process for the WHEELTOP EDS TX. We will cover gear selection, initial calibration, and micro-adjustments for both the front and rear derailleurs. Before we dive in, please make sure your drivetrain is installed correctly, the batteries are fully charged, and your bike is securely clamped on a workstand. One golden rule during this entire calibration process: always keep the crank spinning to prevent any drivetrain damage!

First, open up the WHEELTOP app and enter the "Device Adjustments" menu to confirm your drivetrain speed configuration—in this guide, we are using a 12-speed setup. To adjust the B-tension, set the upper pulley-to-cassette gap to approximately 8 to 10 mm. Once that's set, enter the initial calibration mode. Starting with the rear derailleur, shift it to the smallest cog, and then use the app controls to center the upper pulley with the cassette. Each adjustment moves the derailer in small increments. You need to watch the pulley alignment carefully and listen closely to the drivetrain noise; you are looking for the quietest and smoothest position. My advice is to avoid making tiny corrections immediately. Start with larger adjustments to find the right direction, then gradually reduce the step size. For example, begin with an adjustment value of 20 to establish the correct alignment range. Once the shifting performance starts to improve, drop that value down to 10 for greater control, and finally, use tiny corrections of 5 to achieve the most precise pulley alignment possible. After you've dialed it in, test every single gear across the cassette, checking both upshifts and downshifts. If you notice any hesitation in either direction, make a small correction and test again until the shifting feels immediate, accurate, and consistent throughout the entire gear range.

Next, let's move to the front derailleur. Set the clearance between the chain and the cage to between 0.5 and 1 mm. Enter the initial calibration mode, select the front derailleur, and shift the drivetrain to the large chainring. Using the adjustment controls in the app, move the derailleur until the inner guide plate sits just clear of the chain. If you don't have a chain installed yet, you can use a reference gap of approximately 3.5 to 5 mm between the inner guide plate and the large chainring. Make small adjustments until the derailleur is correctly aligned and moves freely without interference. The final shift should be quick, smooth, and completely free from chain rub.
