How to Replace a WHEELTOP Derailleur Battery: Step-by-Step Internal Battery Swap Guide

The biggest concern people have when considering the WHEELTOP groupset is the integral battery. Unlike SRAM, where you can just swap batteries, people worry that once the internal battery dies, the whole derailleur is destined for the bin. Well, in this video, I’m going to show you exactly how to fix that. While WHEELTOP won’t sell you a replacement battery directly, I picked one up on Aliexpress for about £25. Fair warning: This will void your warranty, so talk to your retailer first if you're still covered. The swap isn't overly complicated, but it is fiddly. You’ll need 1.5mm and 2mm Allen keys. I highly recommend using high-quality model-maker hex drivers because the bolts are tiny, soft, and very easy to round off. You’ll need to undo four 1.5mm bolts and one 2mm bolt. Once the old battery is off, check for any corrosion on the terminals (clean it with a fiber pen if needed) and ensure the metal sealing edge is spotless for a perfect fit. Don’t forget to transfer that little rubber boot from the old battery to the new one. Put it all back together, and your derailleur is as good as new!
