Is WheelTop Worth It? | 4,000km Long-Term Groupset Review: Game-Changer or Gimmick?

Alright everyone, let's talk about the latest Wheeltop EDS TX Wireless groupset. To give you a proper review, I’ve put this thing through its paces for the last two months, covering 4,000km. That includes a grueling 2,000km ultra race and another 2,000km of racing and training. Coming from years of riding SRAM eTap and some Di2, I’ve got the full list of pros and cons for you.

First up, a massive positive: the shifter shape . The form factor is surprisingly small, which I love because I can get my arms straight and aerodynamic over the hoods—unlike those massive SRAM hydraulic levers that I honestly hate. The customizability is also a game-changer. You can set it to any speed from 7 to 13 in the app, meaning you can pair it with any cassette or chain you already have. And the brakes ? Absolutely incredible. Even descending from 2,100m in an ultra race with a 25kg loaded bike, they felt solid, responsive, and completely reliable.

However, it’s not all sunshine. The app translation is essentially useless; it’s full of spelling errors and confusing tutorials that take some trial and error to figure out. Indexing is also trickier than big-name brands. I found it hard to get perfect on a work stand and ended up having to adjust it on my phone while out on a ride. The charging port cover also feels a bit insecure, and the non-removable battery means you can't swap spares mid-ride. But look, at hundreds of pounds cheaper than 105 Di2, and considering it never skipped a beat during 4,000km of abuse, I’d happily run this groupset forever.
