Only $399! WheelTop EDS OX 2.0 In-depth Review: Is This Wireless Drivetrain a Real Game Changer?

The original WheelTop EDS OX surprised me more than I can say, and now I've finally moved on to the new OX 2.0. At just $399 for a fully wireless shifter and rear derailleur, the price point is just unbeatable. What really blows my mind is the versatility—I can jump into the app and configure this single system to work with anything from 3-speed all the way up to 14-speed.

I set this 2.0 kit up on my Niner S9 hardtail, which is my go-to for singletrack and bikepacking. I’m running it with a full Shimano XT drivetrain, and the installation was incredibly easy—that's the magic of wireless. I did have a little hiccup where I got the derailleur stuck on the largest cog, but a quick trip to their site and a few taps in the app to reset it to the smallest cog fixed everything. Also, the battery life is insane. I’ve put in about 15 hours of riding over two weeks and I’m still at 95% battery, which completely puts SRAM to shame.

On the trail, the shifting has been flawless. The shifter has a much more tactile and positive click than a SRAM AXS system. It feels "mechanical" in a good way, though the buttons require a slightly deeper press. Another huge win for 2.0 is the ANT+ connectivity—it pairs perfectly with my Garmin now so I can see my gears and battery levels in real-time. Honestly, looking at my dream bikes with expensive SRAM XO builds, I keep thinking I could have saved a ton of money by going with an XT/WheelTop combo and ended up with the same level of performance.
