Wheeltop EDS OX 2.0 Review: Faster Than SRAM & Shimano? The MTB Game-Changer!

Hola family riders! Today I’m bringing you the Wheeltop EDS OX 2.0, and honestly, it’s incredible. This isn't just a small tweak; it’s a total redesign. The derailleur is much more compact and tucked inward now, which helps avoid those inevitable rock strikes. WheelTop says it's more aerodynamic, but for me, the real win is how robust it feels.

Two things blew my mind during testing. First, the clutch and spring tension . Many users complained about chain slap on the older model, but this 2.0 version is a different beast—the spring is super stiff and the damping is smooth as butter. I’ve been smashing it through rock gardens and descents for days, and the chain hasn't jumped once. Second, it’s now 100% IP67 certified . I even blasted it with a pressure washer and rode it through water to push it to the limit—it handled it all like a champ.

As for speed, I put it into "Race Mode" in the app and timed it. Up-shifting takes about 5 seconds for the whole cassette, and down-shifting is a lightning-fast 3.5 seconds! The latency is virtually zero. But the biggest advantage is compatibility —it works with anything from 7 to 14 speeds. If you want wireless on an old 7-speed or 11-speed rig, SRAM and Shimano can’t help you, but Wheeltop can. While the magnetic charging port on the back is a bit finicky to reach, the performance and the ability to see gear data on your GPS make this a massive improvement. They’ve really listened and fixed all the errors of the first model.
