WHEELTOP EDS OX 2.0 Review: The Best Budget Wireless MTB Groupset? Installation & Ride Test

Bom dia, guys! Today on Café na Trilha, we're diving into a product many of you have been asking for: the WHEELTOP EDS OX 2.0 for mountain bikes. I've already been using their road version, but now it's time to see if the MTB groupset lives up to the hype.

The installation is arguably the best part for any mechanic or DIYer. We swapped out a mechanical system, and the process was incredibly simple—just a few bolts and absolutely no cables or housings to mess with. This groupset is surprisingly versatile, compatible with anything from 3 to 14 speeds (11 and 12 being the sweet spot here in Brazil), and it can handle cassettes up to 52T. Weighing in at roughly 400g for the derailleur and 70g for the shifter, it's a lightweight contender in the electronic space.

Configuring it through the app was seamless. You can toggle between 'Casual' and 'Sport' modes; Sport mode offers lightning-fast shifts but consumes more battery. A standout feature for me is the shifter ergonomics. It has a very tactile 'click-click' feel, which is crucial when you're bouncing around on technical trails and need that physical confirmation that a shift happened.

Out on the trails, the performance was flawless. I even did some 'blind testing'—if I didn't know which brand was on the bike, I'd have a hard time distinguishing it from the top-tier competition. It held chain tension perfectly during jumps and rough descents, with zero chain slap or missed shifts. Even under load while climbing, it shifted reliably. For its price point, it’s a game-changer for those looking to upgrade to wireless without breaking the bank.
