What’s up guys, Eric here at DGDC Cycling! Today is a massive milestone for me—I’m unboxing and installing my very first electronic groupset: the WHEELTOP EDS TX. I’ve ridden mechanical my whole life, so finally getting rid of those cables and going wireless on my Chapter 2 is incredibly exciting.
Let’s talk about the gear. The EDS TX has a premium feel with carbon fiber levers and built-in batteries in the derailleur. A common point online is the shifter size—they are a bit smaller than Shimano or SRAM, which is actually perfect for my smaller hands. Installation was surprisingly straightforward. Since it’s wireless, the 'cable mess' is gone. I did choose to keep my Dura-Ace 9250 calipers because I had just installed them, and the good news is that WHEELTOP is fully compatible with them as long as you use the WHEELTOP-specific olive and barb.
The pairing process was a bit of a puzzle at first, but once you figure it out—waking up the derailleurs with the charging cable and then syncing the shifters—it works like a charm. The WHEELTOP app is essential for fine-tuning. It took some time to dial in every gear on my 11-speed setup, but once indexed, it was crisp.
On the road? My mind is blown. The shifting is effortless—just a 'click' and it’s there. Under load, while climbing out of the saddle, the front derailleur's auto-trim feature and the speed of the rear shifts were flawless. I honestly feel like I’m cheating! The brakes feel just as strong as my previous mechanical setup. If you’re looking for high-end electronic performance without the massive price tag, I’m officially a convert.
