WHEELTOP App v2.0.0 and Firmware Update: New UI, Real-Time Fine-Tuning

WHEELTOP published an in-app announcement on September 4, 2026 covering a simultaneous app and firmware release. The WHEELTOP app moves to v2.0.0 with a completely redesigned interface, and the matching firmware adds real-time fine-tuning for every gear on both the rear and front derailleur. Everything below comes straight from the official announcement screen.

What's New in App v2.0.0

WHEELTOP lists three changes for the app itself:

• Completely new UI design
• Real-time fine-tuning of all gear settings — this one depends on the matching firmware update, not the app alone
• Fixes for identified issues

The redesigned interface splits the groupset into RD, FD and SW tabs across the top, so the rear derailleur, front derailleur and shifter each get their own screen. The fine-tuning view shows the gear you are currently in and lets you nudge the derailleur left or right from there, rather than making a single global adjustment and hoping it suits every sprocket.

Firmware Update Highlights

The firmware side of the release lists four changes:

• Rear and front derailleurs now support real-time fine-tuning for each gear — this is the headline feature, and it needs both the app and the firmware updated together
• Front derailleur return delay cut from 2 seconds to 1 second — the front derailleur settles back into position twice as quickly after a shift
• Optimised power consumption for the thumb shifter — longer runtime from the shifter's coin cell
• Fixed known issues

Firmware Versions in This Rollout

WHEELTOP began pushing the firmware side of this release from August 25, 2026. These are the versions shown on the in-app upgrade screens for the models confirmed so far:

• EDS TX rear derailleur: V2.75 → V21.4
• EDS GeX rear derailleur: V2.67 → V22.4
• EDS GeX right shifter: V4.30 → V4.33
• EDS GeX left shifter: V3.25 → V3.26
• EDS GeX rear derailleur ANT+: V6.2 → V6.4

The GeX update runs across four separate firmware channels, so the app prompts you to update each component in turn rather than flashing everything in one tap. We have not seen a matching OX 2.0 push yet — we will update this post if one lands.

Update the App and the Firmware Together

WHEELTOP is explicit about this in the announcement: update both the app and the firmware to the same version, otherwise some features may not function properly. Real-time fine-tuning in particular is delivered by the two halves working together — a v2.0.0 app talking to old derailleur firmware will not give you per-gear adjustment, and the reverse leaves you without the interface to drive it.

If you only ever update one of the two, update both this time. It is the difference between the feature appearing and the app looking like nothing changed.

How to Update

You can update the app through the App Store or Google Play, or by scanning the QR code below to download it directly.

Once the app is current, connect to your derailleur over Bluetooth and open the device's firmware upgrade screen — the app shows your installed version next to the latest available one and prompts you when you are behind. Charge the derailleur before you start and keep your phone next to the bike for the duration of the flash.

Should You Update?

If you run an EDS TX or GeX groupset, yes. Per-gear fine-tuning is a genuine functional gain over a single global adjustment — it is the setting that fixes the one sprocket that never quite sat right — and the faster front derailleur return and lower thumb shifter power draw are free improvements on top. The only requirement is remembering to update both halves.
