WHEELTOP EDS for Bikepacking: Trail Setup Guide
How to set up WHEELTOP EDS for multi-day bikepacking: charging, gearing, sealing and a pre-trip checklist.
Quick answer: for bikepacking, use the OX 2.0 (flat bar) or GeX (drop bar) with the 93mm cage for cassettes up to 52T. Charge fully before you leave, carry the magnetic charging cable and a power source for longer trips, and a spare CR2032 for the shifter.
Charging on Multi-Day Routes
WHEELTOP rates the rear derailleur (800mAh 7.4V, 5.92Wh) at 20,000+ shifts per charge. It charges through the Pogopin magnetic cable. The OX 2.0 / GeX battery is also replaceable: a spare battery is an option for long trips.
Gearing for Loaded Climbing
- OX 2.0: 3–14 speed; 58mm cage up to 32T, 75mm up to 42T, 93mm up to 52T.
- GeX: 3–14 speed; 75mm cage up to 42T, 93mm up to 52T.
Weather and Mud
Derailleurs are IP67 (dust-tight, 1m submersion for 30 minutes). Lever ratings vary by model; check the product page. The GeX operating range is −10°C to 50°C. Rinse off mud with low-pressure water when you can.
